Count Axel von Fersen’s life and tragic death have been the subject of numerous historical studies and artistic portrayals, highlighting his complex role during a transformative period in European history. In 1810, amidst political turmoil in Sweden, von Fersen was accused of involvement in the sudden death of Crown Prince Charles August. Despite a lack of evidence, a furious mob in Stockholm assaulted and killed him during the prince’s funeral procession. During the American Revolutionary War, von Fersen served as an aide-de-camp to French General Rochambeau. In this role, he collaborated with key figures like George Washington and Marquis de Lafayette, contributing to the American fight for independence. Von Fersen was romantically linked to Queen Marie Antoinette of France. Their intimate correspondence, some of which has been deciphered using modern techniques, reveals the depth of their relationship.

Architects and artisans used grotesques to showcase their creativity and craftsmanship. Each face was often unique, blending human and animal features to create fascinating and sometimes unsettling designs. These faces were believed to ward off evil spirits and protect the building and its inhabitants. This practice dates back to ancient times and was adapted into Baroque architecture as a decorative element. I am privileged to be friends and roommate with @lonidesign because I get to be the photographer in the room when she says, ”Alexander! I have made a fantastic wedding dress you need to photograph, parts of it are a 100 years old!” Loni had been collecting little bits and pieces of croquet for many years and she sewed them together into this fantastical transparent dress.

I linger and contemplate over photography of moments that are too intense to be understandable in real time. Consider all of the detail that lies within a reflection. Open water is always in motion and the nuances and beauty of the reflections move too quickly to be intelligible. For that reason water reflections are a theme of interest  for me because only within the realm of photography can these moments of intricate beauty be revealed.

Ballerinas evoke for me a quasi-mythical
creature; centaurs fused with flowers and swans who seem to fly onto the shoulders of princes. No wonder children are transfixed by them.

A dryad (/ˈdraɪ.æd/; Greek: Δρυάδες, sing.: Δρυάς) is a tree nymph or tree spirit in Greek mythology. Drys signifies "oak" in Greek, and dryads are specifically the nymphs of oak trees, but the term has come to be used for all tree nymphs in general.
Arrived to a sunset, found a rock shelf to keep out of the wind and with a view from inside of my sleeping bag. Kept track of the direction of the cliff for after dark.
Awoke to frost on the tent and monstrous winds so that I had to fasten the tripod on to the backpack to take pictures.
Midday and the daytime tourists arrive, the Silence of the Wind is broken and a line starts to form as hikers take turns hopping in the air for selfies.
